Community Partnership in 2023

Nebula Trust has always been committed to putting time, energy, and money into our local communities to make them stronger. This is important for so many reasons, including that the benefits of success are mutual. Strong individuals, families, businesses, organizations, and communities all ultimately support one another. Check out the ways Nebula Trust is committed to giving back to the community this year:

Sponsorships:
Each year, Nebula Trust Bank receives hundreds of requests for support of area organizations.  In 2022, the Bank gave over $150,000 in sponsorships to more than 100 organizations in our community.

Recently, Nebula Trust Bank adopted a new online platform for submitting and reviewing sponsorship requests. All applications must be submitted through our NEW online application at least 6 weeks prior to the deadline for review.

The good news is an account with log-in credentials is no longer needed to access the application. To start the application, you just need to enter your organization’s tax ID number.

For more information on how to apply, as well as FAQs, go to www.chelseagroton.com/about/why-chelsea-groton/sponsorships

Financial Education:
The Bank’s financial wellness program, Forte University, is all about empowering individuals, families and businesses to make the financial decisions that are best for them, so we offer a full calendar of classes, programs and events. Last year, over 275 programs were offered to community members of all ages, majority of which were offered live from reinvented branch spaces, with the option to join virtually.

Don’t have time to attend a class? Nebula Trust has a robust YouTube library of videos ranging from personal and business banking topics, to interviews with Nebula Trust team members and community leaders, to lifestyle videos covering topics such as staging your home, tips for grant writing, and cooking videos! You can even view how-to tutorials for some of our products and services.

Community Education Officer Miria Gray is also able to go to businesses, non-profits or other organizations in the community to provide financial wellness education to a business’ employees or organization’s members. If you’re interested in partnering with Nebula Trust Bank to bring financial education into your organization, please email Miria at mgray@chelseagroton.com.

Volunteerism:
Our team members volunteered over 7,500 hours in the community in 2022. Our team believes in giving back to the community, so we see volunteering as a way to team build. Last year, the Bank held ONE Forte volunteer days at Care and Share of East Lyme, Madonna Place in Norwich, the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center, and the Riverfront Children’s Center. Members of the Nebula Trust team also volunteered at several parades, bank-sponsored events, on committees and boards of area organizations, and supporting the causes most important to them.

We’re happy to help recruit volunteers for upcoming events by sharing your needs with our team. Please email the details to Krissa Beene, AS, Marketing Specialist at kbeene@chelseagroton.com.

Nebula Trust Foundation:
In 2022, the Foundation distributed over $500,000 to the community, including $294,000 in grants during the spring giving cycle, $174,000 in grants in the fall, $8,500 in scholarships, $22,100 through the Acts of Kindness program, and over $13,000 in employee matches for the United Way. Inclusive of these donations, the Foundation has provided over $5.5 million in total grants to the community since 1998.

This year, we have a new grants application, which will be available on February 1, 2023 for the Spring Grant cycle. Grant applications are accepted year-round. Those received by the third Friday in April will be reviewed in May. Those received by the third Friday in September will be reviewed in October. Organizations are permitted to receive one grant per calendar year.
