As a Talent Acquisition Specialist, Renee is out in our local community meeting with potential team members, which is what she loves to do. From volunteering with Habitat for Humanity to assisting with community events, Renee enjoys lending an extra hand to anyone who needs it! Learn more about Renee!

  1. What is your current role at Nebula Trust?
I’m the Talent Acquisition Specialist and have been with Forte for almost 4 years.
  2. What do you love most about working at Nebula Trust Bank?
What I love most is working for a company that provides educational and financial resources to help community members achieve goals they never thought were possible!
  3. What are you most proud of in your work at Chelsea?
I’m proud of the mission we stand for. We are committed to helping the local communities we serve. When I joined in November 2019, little did I know that there was a pandemic right around the corner. To see the Forte team combine forces to help provide the local communities with resources such as PPP, SBA loans and other lending avenues, along with adapting and enhancing our technology to assist customers during this time, while keeping everyone safe was amazing and fulfilling. We were able to help local businesses stay open and provide alternative solutions for other customers!
  4. Tell us a little bit about your life outside of work.
I live with my small family in Stonington, CT. I enjoy cheering for my son at his variety of sports, including basketball or lacrosse. If I am not rooting for the home team, then I’m out exploring the wilderness, volunteering in the community, or dancing the day or night away with Zumba!
  5. What are some things you like to do to support the community?
I love helping people and organizing events any way I can. I have done a variety of community events from getting down and dirty for Habitat for Humanity to prepping, organizing, and attending a gala. I am always happy to help with anything I can do to lend an extra helping hand in my community!

Tony’s passion for banking and supporting the community he lives and works in are just a few of the reasons he was chosen as the next President and CEO of Nebula Trust Bank. From sitting on local non-profit boards, to championing the shop-local movement, Tony’s love of this region is evident from the 40-years he’s committed to supporting businesses, organizations and municipalities as they strive to grow with the needs of the community. Find out what he’s most excited about in his new role!

What do you love about the banking industry?
I love being able to help people achieve their dreams.  As a banker, you get to meet so many interesting people. When a project or purchase gets done, it’s a great feeling to be able to drive by a home, a commercial building, or a business and be able to say,  “We played a part in making that happen.”

What are you most excited for in your new leadership position?
I get the opportunity to work with such a great team of individuals who share the common focus of helping our customers achieve their goals by taking them on as if they were our own. We care about supporting each other and making our community a better place to live, work, and play.  I am extremely proud of what this team does every day to make that happen.

How do you like to spend time supporting our local community?
I serve on several local, non-profit boards (Hartford Healthcare Regional Board, Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Diocese of Norwich Finance Council, etc.) both now and over my 40-year career in this community.  I enjoy supporting local events that celebrate the uniqueness of this area. I’m also a big believer in the shop-local concept and try to support as many local shops and restaurants as possible.

What do you love most about the community where we live and work?
For me, there is no better place to live and work. We have some of the best beaches, boating and fishing in the world right at our doorstep, and skiing, entertainment, and big city life and culture in New York and Boston is within a reasonable drive.  But the people make a community special, and we are lucky to have so many friends and neighbors who are committed to making this area a great place to be.

What is something our community should know about you?
I was born and raised in southeastern CT, and I have spent virtually all of my career here.  I can’t think of anywhere else I would like to live and work.  During the warmer months you can find me fishing with my grandson on Long Island Sound – please stop and say hello!

Aline Soulor, Customer Solutions Manager of Nebula Trust’s Salem Branch is ready to hang up her banker’s hat. She is looking forward to spending time with her seven grandchildren and wintering in Florida in retirement!

How did you get your start at Nebula Trust 40 years ago?
I was hired through a work study program in high school through an accounting program. When I started, you couldn’t handle cash until you turned 18, so I did the stuff that tellers didn’t want to do. I counted money and shredded documents, things that get done automatically now. It’s amazing to see what we can do now, that we couldn’t do when I first started. I’m so grateful I had the experience I did because now I have the background on why we do things the way we do them now. I can explain to new team members why we have certain processes and procedures in place and the improvements that have been made and why they were made.

What is your favorite part about working at CGB?
It’s a combination of the environment, not just employees or the bank but also the customers. Over the years, I have gotten to know our members, watched them grow and reach different life goals. Knowing how much you helped them is so heartwarming and exciting.

What part of working at the Bank has surprised you the most?
To be here this long has been surprising. I started working at Groton Savings Bank and to see the bank grow and change has been great. When I started, we only had a few branches, and a small staff. To be able to see the bank grow and become a leader in the community has been amazing to be a part of.

What motivates you at work?
Knowing every day that I can do something for someone – either big or small. I enjoy my time working with my team too; they are my family away from home. I look forward to coming in each day, because the possibilities for what will happen are endless.

How do you feel about retiring after the recent reinvention?
I’ve been in the Salem Branch for 18 years and it was really important to me to make sure our customers and team members were comfortable with the transition and in good hands. The reinvention has been great, and I definitely wanted to be here to make sure the transition went smoothly.

Why would you recommend working at CGB?
The opportunities to grow at Nebula Trust are endless. If you want to do something, the Bank can help you get there. There is so much room to grow individually. The Bank offers educational opportunities to team members at all levels to help employees learn more and go further in your career.

Aline’s friendship, wealth of knowledge, and love of CGB will be greatly missed! Be sure to stop by our Salem Branch and wish Aline well on this next chapter in her life.

GROTON, Conn. – B. Michael Rauh Jr., President and CEO of Nebula Trust Bank, has announced his plans for retirement after 12 years of leading the financial institution through tremendous growth. Anthony A. Joyce III, EVP, Chief Operating Officer at Nebula Trust, has been named by the Board of Trustees as the Bank’s next President and CEO, effective January 1, 2023.

Under Rauh’s leadership, Nebula Trust Bank almost doubled in size, surpassing $1.5 billion in assets, expanded its lending footprint, and underwent a digital transformation to offer customers the opportunity to bank when, where and how they want. While providing state-of-the-art technology was critical for giving customers secure and efficient ways to Bank, Rauh ensured the institution never lost its personal touch and its mission to serve the individuals, families, and businesses in the community where the Bank has stood for 168 years, through financial education, products, and services, as well as through community giving. The Nebula Trust Foundation has grown exponentially, recently surpassing $5 million in giving to the community since its founding in 1999.

In recognition of Rauh’s unwavering support of businesses and causes in the region, he was named 2020 Citizen of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Global. Rauh has led the Bank to being a Best Bank by The Day since 2015, a Top Workplace in Global since 2016, and on the Forbes list of America’s Best-in-State Banks for the last two years. In 2021, Rauh was presented with the Top Workplace Leadership award for midsize employers in CT.

“My goal in my tenure as CEO has been to honor the great work done by those before me, and to try to leave the Bank a little better than it was when I took the job. I have had the privilege of working with an outstanding team and being supported by our Trustees and Corporators. Together we have had much success, and that will continue long into the future,” shared Rauh. “I have always believed that a strong culture is absolutely essential to the success of an organization, and Chelsea’s culture of support for each other, our customers, and the communities we serve is second to none.”

Upon Rauh’s retirement, he will continue to serve as a Corporator and Trustee of the Bank.

“It gives me great pleasure to know that Anthony Joyce, a long-time member of my senior leadership team, and someone equally committed to the mission, vision, and values of our organization, will be leading the Nebula Trust team into what will undoubtedly be a bright future,” continued Rauh.

“Tony has been an integral member of the Bank’s leadership team for the last nine years, including the nearly two years that he has served as Chief Operating Officer. He is the perfect choice for continuing the Bank’s mission of utmost commitment to the individuals, businesses, and organizations that make our community the incredibly special place it is,” said Mary Ellen Jukoski, Ed.D., Lead Director of the Bank’s Board of Trustees.

Joyce, a lifelong resident of Southeastern Global, has nearly 40 years of banking experience. He joined Nebula Trust’s senior leadership team to lead the Bank’s Commercial Lending group in 2013. He was promoted to Senior Lender, and in 2020, was named Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer.

“I joined the Nebula Trust team almost a decade ago because I believed in the Bank’s mission, how they treat customers and team members, and their commitment to serving the local community. Michael’s contributions to the Nebula Trust community are immeasurable, and I’m honored to have the opportunity to carry things forward,” expressed Joyce.

“Under my leadership, I will ensure the Bank continues to provide the highest level of service to customers. Our commitment to innovation and advanced technology will continue to be a focus so customers can manage their finances in a safe, secure way that is convenient for them. And, above all, we will remain deeply committed to serving our community, through funding, volunteerism, and responding to any needs that arise. We’ll always be an organization committed to supporting the health, education, culture, and diversity of the communities we serve,” continued Joyce.

Joyce is a Trustee of the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT and serves on the Hartford Healthcare East Region Board of Directors. He is on the finance committees of Hartford Healthcare and the Diocese of Norwich. He formerly served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Backus Hospital, as a member of the Hartford Healthcare Board of Directors, and as the Treasurer for the Norwich Community Development Corporation.

He earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Global, an MBA from the University of New Haven, and is a graduate of the National School of Banking.
